Our Founder ~ Dana Healey ~ Patriot, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist ~ This Bakersfield native, knew from a young age that she wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. After a modest childhood, the South High graduate joined the US army, specializing in logistics. Following a tour in Iraq, Dana continued her military service in a private capacity earning honors as, “The first female ever employed by Blackwater Aviation.” For 11 years, she continued to advance her life and the lives of others in Iraq and Afghanistan until she was injured with a broken back and arm; a devastating blow to her ambitions. Though by age 31, she had seen and done far more than many successful folks can imagine in a life-time.
During her recovery at home in the states, Dana embraced the healing power of yoga, not just for the body, but also for the mind. It was then that she re-discovered her path, as she developed a business plan focused on helping people, especially veterans, with PTSD & physical disabilities.
Dana obtained her first Yoga certification in Thailand by completing internationally recognized 200 hour, and 500-hour RYT (Registered Yoga Alliance) certification programs. With over 13 years of experience in the fitness industry, Dana has provided personal training and Hot Yoga instruction, first to Soldiers and US contractors overseas, and more recently to Bakersfield residents, when she founded Warrior 1 in 2014. With two locations, Dana continues to serve her community, offering free weekly classes to all veterans and donating to numerous local charities.
